A Skateboarder Is Sponsored ...?

I have been bothered for weeks since one reverend I visited made the analogy to a skateboarder being sponsored by a skateboard company, as an explanation to being affirmed by the 'Body of Christ' - in asking if my 'calling' was so affirmed (see journal entry 2.20 ).

Now I understand why he used the skateboard analogy. I thought I had been affirmed by the reverend, by his change of heart that day, and by the endorsement of his prayer for the Project. A different affirmation was coming, unbeknown to me at the time, but certainly as a result of his odd analogy, which stayed with me in an annoying fashion, to this point:

Here I am, now, with $240.00 in my checking account, with no savings, not enough money for next month's rent or next month's car payment, keeping my resolve to be faithful to God's providence (as He has proven himself twice now (journals: 1.20.00 and 9.6.00 ) - still, I confess, I am getting nervous.

Again, by telephone, I am amazed at what is offered. A call came in from Warner Brothers Consumer Products Division of Warner Brothers. I was recommended to them by Exhibitree. They had a job that needed painting for an upcoming extreme sports event that they were sponsoring.

Once again God has come through in the seemingly 'last minutes' with his Providence - only this time, there is an interesting message (which some will dismiss as a coincidence).

The job for Warner Brothers is to paint a particular logo on the flat surface of a half pipe used for skateboarding. AND the profit from the job after expenses comes out to a little over $15,000.00 - the price I need to bring the Card project to public availability. Of all possible jobs that could come in -- and this is an industry I have never worked for or been associated to - x-treme sports, specifically skateboarding.

Here is the twist - as I often wonder who will sponsor this project, were is the money coming from - as it was previously explained to me, a person being affirmed to ministry, is supported by the Body of Christ confirmationally and fiscally. Do I dare to believe that this is a divine affirmation? Is this project to be a ministry of sorts? An art ministry?

According to the analogy first given me by the Reverend using a skateboarder/ skateboard company sponsorship as an analogy to affirmation - by association, I am an artist, God is the Creator (the Supreme Artist) ... is there an analogous association here revealed by this WB Skateboarding job as a reference to being Affirmed by ... Christ?

I shudder to think, Yet this is amazing.

I am out of money and I have been provided a job that not only brings me an income but an income in the amount I need to produce the Freedom ART Project cards and promotional support.

This reminds me of that time ( journal pre 2000: recall 3 ) where I was driving on the freeway concerned with having companies sponsor my project. After my confession of seeking sponsorship for worldly approval and validation of what I was about to do, did God reveal to me than I did not need validation from man, because He had already validated me by giving to the project.

This is amazing and even hard to believe. God's Grace is Amazing. I am coming to know God, as He works in my life in particular, has shown beautiful irony, kindness, and humor. I am so grateful. This has been such a blessing in light of the pain and anguish I suffered in 1991, when I was 'humbled' and conformed. That is another story. This journalization is one for gratitude in God's Mercy and way.

If this is to become a ministry - if this is God's will - then I am completely reliant on Him to work His ministry through this Project. I confess, I do not feel capable of such a position. Nor am I a good enough example of a 'Christian' as the public expects it's ministers to be. It would have to be God working through me as an example of His Glory. If this is God's will, then let it be.
