Not much I can
do here - my life has been growing dim. I have lost much
hope and exhausted myself emotionally. I feel as though
I have tapped my resources here in Orange County, but I
confess, I am sure I could have made better business decisions.
It has taken everything I possess just to advance the creative
part of this Project - my efforts beyond my ability: to
garner support, raise funds - has left me drained and lacking.
Sales I relied
on from the CLOUD FORMS divine mystery Show, did not come
through - many are having financial difficulty and now,
a month later, can not pay. It was a good run, producing
the work for the show - insight, and great work came from
it, as well as studio confidence toward making the first
prototype. The show has, however, put me in deeper debt
than I was already (from the making of the Blessing Cards).
With nothing
in sight, and not knowing what else I can do for the Freedom
ART Project, I am choosing to continue my plans as scheduled
- to continue my studies and connect with my lineage of
artists that painted their faith. I have planned a trip
East to New York to see 'Time to Hope", 100 of Spain's
greatest religious works, on exhibit until Nov. 24th at
St. John the Divine.
I have been
blessed with the help of friends - In Manhattan I will be
able to stay with my friend Rich. My friends Nancy and Steve
offered to sponsor a detour to Washington DC, and so I am
taking them up on their generosity.
The Freedom
ART Project is going East.
Although I did
not raise the capital I needed for my six month sabbatical
tour through Europe to study Sacred Space, and Art as Worship,
Praise , and Liturgy - friends of mine in Paris have offered
me use of their food and home (bless them). Plans are being
made now for January 2003 to take, and reduce my sabbatical
travel to France and possibly Barcelona, Spain. I have been
offered a Buddy Pass for my air travel. This short trip
East will act as a preliminary study.
I can only hope
and pray, not knowing who I will meet, or what will happen,
or how the Spirit will move, that between now and Spring
of 2003, the $23,000. required for material and hired labor,
can be raised so that I may paint the Genesis Prototype.
With winter
coming, I will not be able to paint in my studio until warmer
weather returns. My work will turn indoors - studying, sketching,
and computer work.
