Better Than Whipped Butter

I tried samples of Maimeri Oil Paints today in my search for the oil paints I will use on the first prototype and possibly the entire Project. I also tried some samples of a flat acrylic sent out by Golden.

Both of these paints are excellent, I am particularly excited about the flat matt Golden High Load Acrylic paints, as this can be a solution to an insurmountable wall that I had hit over two years ago with test applications of the 23 karat gold text to the painted background. Further tests will be to insure the non gilding and non marring properties to the painted area for gold gilding. I am finally making headway and finding workable solutions to earlier problems encountered to get the desired result that I am after in the finished paintings.

I have been testing the Maimeri oil paints - they are an exceptional consistency. They take some getting used to because they are not as stiff as other paints. My habit of working is I adapt my technique to the attributes of the medium - and what the medium allows by how it responds to my gestures. My way of painting is sympathetic. I often modify my painting approach to take advantage of a mediums qualities.

At first, although I like the feel of the medium and have adjusted to its nature, I am having trouble getting the colors I want, since the pigments in the test sets are limited for how I use color, and for how I paint. To achieve the effects I aspire to, I play not only with color, but also opacity / transparency of the pigments and the mediums.

So I spent some time with the catalog. A lot of time with the catalog, and noticed the key pigments Maimeri uses for making their paints.

I have made a list and it is quite extensive. I am hoping to acquire the Maimeri paints according to the list I have made for further testing. If it were my preference, I would be grateful for a Maimeri sponsorship to the Freedom ART Project. Of course, that is a lot to ask. Same with Golden.

I have had one great sponsor since 1982: Medea-Iwata America has sponsored my airbrush needs: airbrush paints, airbrushes, spray-guns, accessories, even repairs - they put me on a house account that absorbs all costs including shipping.

They are a blessing from God - and had they not been in my corner, I most likely would have had to stop my art career over a decade ago. My entire airbrushing technique is based on the Com-Art transparent medium.
