It is 2 AM in
the morning on the day of the show - Sept 28 - I am reflecting
back on my day (beginning the 27th). Show starts in 17 hours
(and it is not ready)
The paintings
were moved to the show space on the night of the 26th. I
have spent most of the day (27th) setting up the show. My
friend Brad Davis arrived to help me hang the work. That
was a great help. THe day started early at Integraf where
I hand painted 200 cd roms with an airbrushed swipe of orange
automotive paint and then a thumbprint signature. While
they dried I took off to workofthemovement to see an edit
of the multimedia interviews for the cd rom (I am told they
will arrive by show time on the 28th). The edit looks good
- a couple things were left out and needed to be replaced
- I am glad I had a chance to see what was being made -
that was my first glimpse and it will be my only glimpse.
Spot lights
delivery took place this morning.
The show was
hung (except for two of the major paintings which where
delivered after 6 pm today by the framer !!) arrangements
were made for tomorrow (today).
Anyway - I am
still up because the scissor lift I rented for adjusting
lighting in the 17 foot high space, ran out of juice before
I could finish adding and adjusting lighting. I am home
finishing the price list and giving the scissor lift time
to recharge. I have to finish the lighting while it is dark
out since I can not do that during the show, though that
would be certainly entertaining and a bit of a performance
with me driving about the show 12 feet up in the air on
a scissor lift - it might serve me well when I give my speech
... (which I hope to have time to write tomorrow).
Due to some
misunderstandings with the framing on two of the artworks,
I'll need to retouch one of the works and repaint a section
of another (one of the main paintings!). I'll do that after
I wake up, later in the morning.
Price sheets
are almost done - I will have to finish and print them tomorrow.
The scissor lift should have enough of a charge now for
me to finish setting up the show lighting.
Tomorrow is
the day - 6 months leading up to this one night.
